About Tour
Verinag is situated at an altitude of 1,876 meters and is believed to be the primary source of the Jhelum River. The spring sits on an octagonal base, surrounded by a covered arcade, whose construction was initiated by the Mughal Emperor Jehangir and completed during the reign of Shah Jahan. Downstream to the east, visitors can also find remnants of a Mughal pavilion and baths.
Named after Nila Nag sage Kashyap Rishi, the spring holds cultural and historical significance. Originally circular, it was reshaped into an octagon in 1620 under Jahangir’s orders, reflecting traditional Mughal architectural style, making it a key attraction for tourists visiting Verinag.
Day-1 Pir Panjal Range
The Pir Panjal Pass is located to the west of Srinagar. The Banihal Pass the Jhelum River, at the southern end of the Kashmir Valley. The towns of Banihal and Qazigund are situated on either side of this pass.
Day-2 Kapran Village
Kapran is a village situated in the Shahabad Tehsil of Anantnag District. It lies approximately 21 km south of the district headquarters, Anantnag, and about 79 km from the state capital, Srinagar.
Kapran is bordered by Qazigund Tehsil to the west, Achabal Tehsil to the north, Pahloo Tehsil to the north, and Banihal Tehsil to the south. Nearby cities include Anantnag, Udhampur, Srinagar, and Rajauri.
