About Tour
Doodhpathri, also called the “Valley of Milk,” is located about 42 km from Srinagar and is one of the lesser-explored gems of Kashmir. Visitors to the region should consider taking some time to experience this enchanting destination.
The meadow is covered with lush, emerald grass resembling a green carpet, and a lively river meanders through its center, adding charm and vibrancy to the landscape. The scenery is both refreshing and soothing, with the soft grass underfoot enhancing the beauty of the surroundings.
Being a recent addition to the tourist map of Jammu & Kashmir, Doodhpathri remains relatively uncrowded, attracting mainly local visitors. The road from Khansahib to Doodhpathri is currently in poor condition, and the area lacks proper hotels or markets, making visits generally a day trip where travelers need to carry their own meals, though tea and snacks are available at small local shops.
Despite the challenging journey, the destination is well worth visiting. The local government is actively working to improve road connectivity, and once completed, Doodhpathri is expected to become one of the top three tourist destinations in the valley.
Day-1 Tangnar
About two to three kilometers before you reach Doodhpathri, you will cross Tangnar. It is worth a quick visit because it is a lovely location with little valleys and pine and deodar trees on small hills.
Day-2 Mujhpathri
Mujhpathri, whose name means “Valley of Turnip,” is a quaint hamlet located along the Shaliganga River, approximately 3 km from Doodhpathri.
Day-3 Palmaidan
Palmaidan, whose name translates to “Big Stones Ground,” is a meadow similar to Doodhpathri but dotted with large stones. Located about 5 km from Doodhpathri, it is a popular grazing area for shepherds and their livestock. The site is surrounded by Deodar and pine trees, with a small stream flowing along one edge, making it a picturesque and tranquil spot.
Day-4 Diskhal
Perched atop a mountain, this meadow provides breathtaking views of the Ashtaar Glacier. It can be reached via a trek of approximately 10 km from Shaliganga Nallah in Doodhpathri.
