Lolab Valley is an oval-shaped valley and a top camping site in Kashmir, famous for its scenic natural beauty, dense pine forests and bubbling springs. It is located 9 km from Kupwara town, northwest of Srinagar. Lolab Valley is also home to some animals like Himalayan brown and black bear, snow leopard, hangul and musk deer.
Day-1 Tangnar
Lolab Valley, surrounded by fresh and peaceful landscapes, is a breathtaking destination that draws visitors repeatedly. Located in the northwestern part of Kashmir, this Himalayan sub-valley is a hidden gem, with the Lahwal River flowing east to west, enhancing its scenic charm. The valley’s snow-capped mountains, misty slopes, and lush meadows make it a perfect spot for photography and nature lovers.
Lolab Valley is renowned for its exhilarating treks, flowing rivers, waterfalls, and verdant meadows. Popular spots include the caves of Kalaroos, Chandigam, Satbern, and Khumriyal. Chandigam, enveloped by green pine and deodar forests and rugged mountains, is particularly photogenic. Near the valley, springs such as Lavnag Spring and Gauri Spring are well preserved by the local government.
The ideal time to explore Lolab Valley is from April to June, when the weather is perfect for adventure and sightseeing. In winter (December to February), the valley is blanketed in snow, creating a surreal, enchanting landscape. Nearby pristine valleys include Neelum Valley and Kashmir Valley, both tranquil and captivating. The town of Kupwara is known for its rich wildlife, offering a serene escape, while Krusan houses the shrine of Syed Bengal Sahib, surrounded by peaceful valleys.
Day-2 Bangus valley
This valley is located at an altitude of 10,000 feet above sea level, showcasing a distinct ecological system. The ecosystem features grasslands, contracted trees, and taiga, providing a well-arranged combination of vegetation. At lower altitudes, diverse plant life is also visible. This uninhabited valley lies west of Handwara within Kupwara Tehsil and is divided into two parts: the larger section is known as Bodh Bangus, while the smaller one is called Lokut Bangus, which includes the Chaukibal Mountain and Samasheri Mountains. The Mani Sankudhari stream originates here and is well-known in the region.
Day-3 Chandigam
It is a stunning tourist spot located among the villages of Lolab Valley. This place is perfect for nature lovers and trekkers, attracting visitors with breathtaking views of the Himalayas and its natural beauty, along with various adventure activities. Activities such as trekking and mountain biking draw many tourists, while the captivating scenery adds to its appeal. For those interested in experiencing cultural diversity, a village just 5 km away provides a glimpse into local traditions. Duruswamy is a remarkable tourist destination that everyone should visit at least once.
