About Tour
Located on the northwestern frontier of Ladakh, Turtuk lies close to the border and was part of Pakistan until the 1971 Indo-Pak War. This 7-day Ladakh tour takes you on an unforgettable journey to the “top of the world,” crossing some of the highest motorable passes on the planet while soaking in breathtaking views of snow-clad peaks. Celebrated for its unmatched landscapes, crystal-clear alpine lakes, and winding mountain roads, Ladakh has emerged as one of India’s most Instagram-worthy destinations and a must-visit on every traveler’s bucket list.
Day-1 Arrival in Leh | Welcome to the Top of the World
- Upon your arrival in Leh, you will be greeted by a representative who will assist you with a comfortable transfer to your hotel. After checking in, take the day to relax and unwind.
- Enjoy a wholesome breakfast at the hotel and allow your body to gradually adjust to the high-altitude environment. Since Ladakh is situated at a considerable elevation, the day is kept free to help you acclimatize properly and minimize the chances of altitude sickness.
- In the evening, relish a delicious dinner and enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel in Leh.
Day-2 Leh to Sham Valley | Exploring Borders of Leh
- Start your day with a refreshing mountain morning and a filling breakfast before heading out for an exciting drive to Sham Valley, beautifully located along the Srinagar–Leh Highway.
- Begin your sightseeing by honoring the brave soldiers at the Hall of Fame, dedicated to the martyrs of the Indo-Pak War. Continue to Spituk Gompa, which features a museum displaying ancient masks, traditional weapons, and sacred Thangkas (Buddhist paintings).
- Stop at Gurudwara Pathar Sahib to enjoy a warm langar and learn about the inspiring story behind its construction by the Indian Army. Next, visit Magnetic Hill, a fascinating stretch of road known for its gravity-defying phenomenon. Proceed to the Indus Sangam Viewpoint to witness the stunning meeting point of the Zanskar and Indus rivers. You will also explore SECMOL, popularly known as the real-life “3 Idiots” school.
- After a day full of exploration and memorable experiences, return to your hotel for dinner and a comfortable overnight stay in Leh.
Day-3 Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung-La Pass | A Drive to the World’s Highest Motorable Road (18000 ft.)
- After a nutritious breakfast, gear up for an unforgettable adventure. Today’s journey takes you across some of the world’s highest mountain passes, offering ever-changing views of Ladakh’s stark and dramatic landscapes.
- Pause at the café atop Khardung La Pass, known as one of the highest all-season motorable roads in the world, and take in the breathtaking vistas that make you feel truly on top of the world. As you descend from Khardung La, watch the scenery transform from a rugged cold desert to the striking white sand dunes of Nubra Valley.
- If time allows, visit Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest monastery in Ladakh, famous for its towering Buddha statue. You can also enjoy a unique ride on the double-humped Bactrian camel, native to this region and a reminder of its historic link to the Silk Route.
- Later, relax at your campsite with a cozy bonfire under a sky filled with stars, followed by an overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
Day-4 Nubra Valley to Turtuk Village | Last Village of India
- After enjoying a delightful breakfast, set out on a scenic drive toward Turtuk. This charming village is the last Indian settlement before the Pakistan-controlled Gilgit-Baltistan region begins and also serves as one of the gateways to the Siachen Glacier.
- Turtuk offers a unique cultural, linguistic, and historical experience, distinct from the rest of Ladakh, as it lies within the Gilgit-Baltistan cultural belt. The landscape here is equally different, featuring dramatic narrow valleys and steep mountains, unlike the terrain of Central Ladakh and Nubra.
- Located at a comparatively lower altitude than Leh, Turtuk is blessed with lush green fields and orchards producing fresh fruits such as apricots and apples. Later, return to your camps in Nubra Valley to enjoy a delicious dinner and a comfortable overnight stay.
Day-5 Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake | Recreate the Famous Bollywood Moments
- Wake up to a refreshing morning in the picturesque Nubra Valley and enjoy a delicious breakfast before heading out for the most anticipated highlight of your journey—a visit to Pangong Lake near the Indo-China border.
- One of the highest-altitude saltwater lakes in the world, Pangong Tso enchants visitors with its ever-changing shades, shifting from deep blue to green and even reddish hues. Spend the day exploring the stunning surroundings, with the Shyok River flowing on one side and majestic mountains rising on the other.
- You can also relive iconic scenes from popular Bollywood movies like 3 Idiots and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, adding a cinematic charm to your experience. Later, enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at a campsite near the mesmerizing Pangong Lake.
Day-6 Pangong Lake to Leh | Excursion to Rancho School
- Begin your day with stunning views of Pangong Lake and a delightful breakfast before starting your journey back to Leh. On the way, pause at Chang La Pass, one of the highest mountain passes in the world, and, if you wish, stop by the Changla Café located at the summit.
- Visit the revered Changla Baba Temple, after whom the pass is named and who is believed to protect travelers crossing Chang La. Continue onward to Druk Padma School, widely recognized as the filming location for the final scene of the movie 3 Idiots.
- If time allows, explore the magnificent Thiksey Monastery and the historic Shey Palace along the route. Upon arriving in Leh, relax for a while before enjoying dinner at your hotel, followed by an overnight stay in Leh.
Day-7 Departure | It's Time to say Goodbye to the Mountains
- Enjoy your breakfast in the morning and proceed with the check-out formalities at the hotel.
