Located in the Jhelum Valley on the route to Wular Lake via Safapur, this tranquil lake can be reached from Srinagar either through Shadipur or via Nasim and Gandarbal. Its secluded, crystal-clear green waters draw comparisons to the sacred Mansarowar Lake near the revered Mount Kailash.

Day-1 Manasbal Lake

The lake, averaging a depth of 12 meters, transforms into a beautiful lotus-covered expanse during the summer. In winter, it becomes a haven for bird watchers, being one of the largest natural habitats for aquatic birds in Kashmir. The eastern bank of the lake is dominated by the scenic Baladar Mountain, while the northern shore is home to the historic ruins of Darogabagh.

Day-2 Mughal Garden

There is a Mughal (also spelt as Mohgul) garden, built by Nur Jahan, by the lake. It’s called Garoka, meaning bay window, due to its view out over the lake.

Day-3 Safapur

In the village of Safapur, a grove of Chinar trees, called Badshah Boni or Royal Chinar, was planted as a replica of Nasim Bagh. The village is irrigated by a canal sourced from the Sindh River

Day-4 A Campsite

Camping is possible at another lakeside Chinar grove known as Qoz Bagh. There is also a government rest house by the lake
