About Tour

Sonamarg is a beautiful hill station situated about 80 kilometers northeast of Srinagar, at an altitude of approximately 2,800 meters above sea level. Renowned for its snow-covered meadows, serene lakes, and surrounding majestic glaciers, Sonamarg enchants every traveler with its pristine beauty.

The town is embraced by the Himalayan glaciers, including Kolhoi Glacier and Machoi Glacier, and is close to the famous Three Sisters of the Kashmir Valley. Towering peaks such as Kolhoi Peak, Amarnath Peak, Machoi Peak, and Sirbal Peak make Sonamarg a hotspot for adventure sports enthusiasts.

Sonamarg serves as the base for treks to high-altitude lakes like Gangabal Lake, Vishansar Lake, Gadsar Lake, Satsar Lake, and Kishansar Lake. The Thajiwas Range divides the valley into two sections: one side features fir-covered slopes popular for camping, while the other showcases stunning waterfalls and the Thajiwas Glacier, the prime attraction of the area.

Day-1 Thajiwas Glacier

Thajiwas Glacier, located about 3 kilometers from Sonamarg, sits at an altitude of 3,000 meters and remains covered in snow throughout the year. This stunning glacier is one of Jammu and Kashmir’s most treasured natural assets and a must-visit for nature enthusiasts and trekking aficionados. Visitors can reach it on foot via a scenic trek from Sonamarg.

For those preferring an easier route, hiring a pony is also an option. Along the way, travelers are treated to the striking contrast of a sparkling frozen lake amidst lush greenery, creating a truly enchanting view. The trek also passes through camps of the local Gujjar tribes, who live here and sustain their livelihood, adding a cultural dimension to the journey.

Day-2 Zoji La

Zoji La is a high-altitude mountain pass situated near Dras at 3,528 meters above sea level. Linking Kashmir with Dras and the Suru Valley, Zoji La is regarded as one of the most perilous mountain roads in the world. Its name, meaning “mountain pass of blizzards,” reflects the harsh conditions, and the pass remains closed during winter due to heavy snowfall and avalanche risks.

Despite the dangers, Zoji La offers breathtaking views and stunning landscapes along its route. Some stretches are particularly treacherous, so travelers are advised to traverse the pass only with experienced drivers familiar with the steep slopes and sharp, winding turns.

Day-3 White River Rafting

White water rafting is among the most popular adventure experiences in Sonamarg. Enthusiasts can embark on an exciting rafting journey starting from Baltal and concluding at Shutkari Bridge.

With various stretches along the route, the expedition offers an enjoyable experience for everyone—whether you are a beginner, an adventure lover, or an experienced rafter—ensuring a memorable and thrilling ride.

Day-4 Trekking in Sonamarg

Sonamarg offers a treasure trove of trekking opportunities, with numerous trails mapped across the region. Its rugged mountain ranges, clear alpine lakes, and expansive plateaus make it ideal for trekkers of all experience levels. Popular trekking destinations include Machoi Peak, Amarnath Peak, Sirbal Peak, and Kolahoi Peak, attracting adventurers from near and far.

Day-5 Krishnasar Lake

Krishnasar Lake, situated at an altitude of 3,801 meters above sea level, is one of the most enchanting lakes in Sonamarg. Nestled amid dense alpine forests, it offers a cool and pleasant environment. The lake is especially popular for trout fishing, while visitors also enjoy other recreational water activities in its pristine surroundings.

Day-6 Baltal Valley

Baltal is renowned for its breathtaking scenery. The tents here are budget-friendly, and visitors can reach the cave either by trekking or hiring ponies. Alternatively, helicopter services are available from Baltal, transporting pilgrims to Panjtarni.
